The undeniable truth in golf is that the right swing with the wrong clubs
is no better than the wrong swing with the right clubs. You must have both
right to play your best golf ever.
To ensure this match, we have developed the three-phase fitting system
- proven equally effective for the veteran and beginner.
Several factors enter into the club fitting system. While the ultimate
result will be a set of custom golf equipment, the initial consideration
is with you, the golfer. One of the most important steps in the fitting
process come as soon as you greet your fitting professional - talk.
Unlike most places, our first questions will not be "how much do
you want to spend?" or "will this be cash or charge?". Our
discussion will concern you current level of play - where you play; normal
ball flight (right, left, high, low); what you expect from clubs; level
of play you wish to achieve.
There is a simple reason that we do this - your are an individual and
so is your swing. For years, golf professionals have attempted to force
players into THE setup, THE swing, THE SAME ONE that THE touring pro uses.,
The problem with this philosophy has always been - which pro? Lee Trevino,
with his power fade? Hubert Green who stands fairly well "folded-up":
at address? Now, the industry has come around to recognizing a more flexible
style of teaching, something that we at Westgate have done for years. A
style that takes the golfers attributes into account.
So what does all this have to do with club fitting?
Everything! Your height will establish club length. Your strength will determine
club weight. Your swing plane will dictate the "lie" (the angle
the shaft enters the head). Even the length of your fingers are checked
to fit the proper sized grip.
Once your general golf characteristics have been established, we move
on to the first of this three phase fitting system - the ideal set-up. |
|
Phase One - The Ideal Set-Up
This is the ideal position for each individual - defined by his/her physical
attributes, coordination and skill level. It is the most important factor
in golf club fitting.
If the golfer doesn't have properly fitted clubs it
is impossible to achieve a relaxed, comfortable address position. And worse,
it is impossible to make a fundamentally correct swing. The unfortunate
dilemma is that most golfers are unaware that their clubs don't fit, so
they instinctively develop a swing which compensates for equipment errors.
Our trained staff understands the model set-up and can help you determine
what is right for you.
Phase Two - Acquired Habits
Every golfer acquires habits and preferences. It is these factors tat
makes each swing individual. Many individuals are comfortable with their
game and simply want their equipment to make the most of their existing
swing.
Which shaft gives the most club head speed? What flex provides the best
control? Can graphite improve my game? These variables can be isolated by
hitting various demo clubs to find the best combination.
At Tessler's Golf Center we incorporate your individual habits and preferences into the fitting process and an make positive suggestions which will integrate your equipment and your swing.
Phase Three - Progressive Fitting
The final step in the fitting process is to decide if swing modifications
need to be made to facilitate long-term improvement.
Our trained professionals can determine which acquired habits are correct
and which habits violate sound swing principles. If lessons are suggested
a program can be tailored to your individual needs and the club fitting
becomes part of that process. |
